75.9 by Omer Arbel

Welcome to a one-of-a-kind project in the Canadian Pacific Northwest — where innovative design meets stunning craftsmanship. This house, named 75.9 is more than a home—it’s a creative masterpiece built on a hay farm. Let’s explore its standout features and how Doors, like folding Doors, pivot Doors and exterior Doors, play a role in its design. The house uses a special way of working with concrete. Instead of pouring concrete into solid molds —it’s poured into fabric molds supported by wooden structures. This method gives the walls & columns a textured finish, making them look like they’ve been part of the landscape for centuries. Some of these concrete columns are almost 10 meters tall and are shaped like trumpets. These trumpet-shaped columns aren’t just for looks—they’re hollow & allow trees to grow right on the roof of the house! The house has a variety of beautiful doors, including the Front Door, Interior Doors, Folding Doors and Pivot Doors. Each one of them adds a special charm to the overall look and feel of the house. One of the coolest parts of this house is its roof. The designers treated the hay field like a carpet —laying it over the home’s roof. You can actually walk on the roof and enjoy views of the fields. This creative idea makes the house blend perfectly into its surroundings. To balance the tall concrete columns, the rest of the house uses wood. The wooden parts create a warm and welcoming space and highlight the horizontal beauty of the surrounding landscape. Creating 75.9 was a big team effort. The design was led by Omer Arbel Office and the construction involved experts like Chris Wright and Joe Haley. From structural engineers to geotechnical consultants —everyone worked together to bring this vision to life. This house isn’t just about how it looks—it’s about how it connects with its environment. The thoughtful use of Doors, materials and innovative techniques shows how design can create something both functional and artistic. Whether you’re looking for front Doors, folding Doors or pivot Doors for your home —the ideas from 75.9 can inspire creative solutions for your own space.
